About
Founded in 2011, the Fund seeks double bottom line returns, meaning above-average risk-adjusted financial returns and positive social impact. We principally seek to provide access to capital for underserved small- and medium-sized businesses that improve their communities. Where possible, we seek to leverage public sector and non-profit investment for the benefit of our fund's portfolio companies and social impact.
Social Mission - The Fund’s primary goal is to engender positive change in the communities in which its portfolio companies operate through environmental improvement, the advancement of educational opportunity, or the creation of high-quality jobs and services for low to moderate income individuals. In addition, the Fund prioritizes investments in women or minority-owned enterprises.
Industry Focus - DCCV targets investments in areas and industry sectors where inefficient capital allocation yields the potential for favorable investment returns. The Fund has a broad industry focus, encompassing consumer products, manufacturing, services, clean energy and education-related businesses.
Investment Information - We typically make investments of between $200,000 and $750,000 and focus mostly on mid-to-late stage investments, specifically in companies that are currently generating profits or have proven profit potential. DC Community Ventures also seeks to co-invest with other social impact funds, family offices, and institutional investors in structured equity or mezzanine debt investments. Most importantly, we seek to work with management to optimize a deal structure that meets the individual company's needs.
